Background/History:
Algol, the Hero King, was the first person to wield Soul Edge without being influenced by it's evil power due to his indomitable will. Wielding Soul Edge, he established peace throughout the lands. However, Arcturus, his son, was jealous of his father's success and power. When he tried to take Soul Edge for himself, Soul Edge easily possessed him. Algol fought his own son to stop him, but unfortunately, Algol killed him. Filled with remorse, Algol gathered purified shards of Soul Edge and help from various sages in order to create a holy sword to counter Soul Edge. After many failed attempts to create the holy sword, he performed one final ritual by sacrificing himself. However, this only resulted in creating a sword very similar to Soul Edge due to Algol's thirst for power. A few of his men formed a tribe called the "Guardians of the Spiritual Sword" in order to guard the newly created sword and to purify it into a true holy sword.
In 1590 AD, the soul blades clashed in the Lost Cathedral. This time, the swords had given off a bit of energy that awoken Algol from his slumber. He was just pure consciousness in this state and took some of the energies from both blades to form a body. He then used his sheer force of will to construct the Tower of Remembrance in Ostrheinsburg. However, he can only maintain a physical form from within the tower and his energy is starting to drain. He needed to absorb the powers of both soul blades in order to maintain his existence. He used the tower in order to draw warriors to him, hoping that the wielders of the soul blades would be among them so he can take them for himself.
Only Mitsurugi reached the top level of the Tower of Remembrance, which was now part of Astral Chaos. Afterwards, the two of them engaged in fierce combat. However, the battle was cut short due to Nightmare and Soul Edge's destruction by the hands of Siegfried and Soul Calibur. While Soul Edge's fragments were sucked into Astral Chaos, so did Algol and his great tower, leaving Mitsurugi behind.
Algol now resides in Astral Chaos and reconstructed a new tower called the Tower of Glory as his home base. While he is living in Astral Chaos, he attempts controlling its energies for himself, which now form his ethereal body. He eventually plans conquer the world by corrupting it with the energies of Astral Chaos, but first, he needs to reclaim what he believes is rightfully his, both Soul Edge and Soul Calibur.
