Seong Mina is a bold, courageous woman who is always ready for adventure. She strives to better herself, and longs to be the strongest female warrior in Jirisan, if not that, of the whole of Korea. In addition to her determination, Mina also looks out for her friend, Yun Seong, of whom is fairly brash, and tends not to think for himself, and therefore Mina will be there to rectify his wrongdoings.
The Heart and Soul Girl Longing for Adventure
Raised by her father within the confined walls of the Seong Dojang in Korea, Seong Mina, aged 16, was brash, high spirited, and simply longing for adventure. She was considered one of the strongest, and most beautiful girls in her village, and thus received many compliments, and even offers for her hand in marriage. However, in alliance with her young age, Seong Mina rejected all of them, only to focus on her true dream: to join the Korean Army.
Alas, her enthusiasm was not enough for her to be able to join, as she was declined due to the mere fact that Mina was a girl.
This only rekindled her determination to grow stronger, and to prove herself more. After eavesdropping on a conversation between her father and Hwang, her friend and a student of her father's, Seong Mina found out that there was a sword in the west known as 'The Sword of Salvation', and was what the Korean army needed to defend their homeland.
Finding this the perfect opportunity of proving her strength and capability to join the army, Seong Mina ran away from home in search of this legendary sword in the west. However, her efforts were proven a loss, and Seong Mina was found no sooner by Hwang himself, dragging her back home empty handed.
Within two years of returning home, Mina took flight once again, as she had heard that her father was planning on getting her married to no other than her closest friend, Hwang. Finding this offer ridiculous, along with the goal of rewriting her failure in finding the sword, Mina had set off on her second adventure.
Down this lonesome path, Mina had encountered a woman, with bleach white hair and a trailing sword, looped in reminiscent of a whip in her hands, who was also on the road to find the Sword of Salvation. Mina was told by this woman that the 'Sword of Salvation' was in reality a demonic sword which brought the opposite of what Seong Mina wanted: death. The woman also told her that she was much better off at home due to her young age, and thus Mina challenged her to a fight.
However, due to the woman's unpredictive weapon lashing at Mina in every direction possible, Mina suffered a humiliating downfall, fleeing from the snake sword bearer, to heal her emotional wounds as well as her physical ones. Was she weaker than she thought herself to be?
Mina had soon come across an middle-aged man, the dark circles around his eyes indicated his consumption of alcohol, who had watched the entirety of Mina's battle, teasing her about her hasty nature to get into a fight. Angered by the alcoholic's words, Mina was quick to strike, however, she hadn't made a scratch on the elder man, who finally caught her zanbatou with one hand. Awed by the man's sharp skills, even under the influence of alcohol, Mina asked if he could teach her, and to her surprise, he accepted, though reluctant at first.
One year later, Mina's zanbatou skills matched the man's bo staff skills perfectly, and Mina had learned not to underestimate her opponent. However, her training was cut short when her master disappeared without a trace, apart from a note in which said:
"There is nothing more I can teach you. Good luck.
- Kong Xiuqiang"
Seong Mina took the skills she had learned, along with a new mindset, in which was much more mature than what she had previously, and returned home.
Four years later, Seong Mina had met a new student of the dojo, Hong Yun-Seong, who had challenged Hwang to a fight one day, in which Hwang declined. Seeing Yun's determination in herself a few years ago, Mina offered to train with him, and eventually felt guilty enough to donate him one of the Seong family heirlooms: White Storm. However, much like she had been five years ago, Yun Seong set off after Soul Edge, unaware of its evil.
Feeling as though it was her duty as a friend, and an almost sister figure, Seong Mina set off after Yun-Seong in order to retrieve him, much like the mission Hwang had carried out a few years back.
During her search for Yun Seong, Mina began to wonder where exactly the fighting style the man had taught her years ago originated from. Her question was soon answered by a man of whom she had defeated during a fight she accidentally gotten involved in. He remarked that her fighting style vaguely resembled that of the Ling Sheng Su Style Rod...
Seong Mina decided to search into the fighting style she had been using for over five years, her quest leading her to an abandoned, demolished temple, and then into the Himalayas, where she had found an old man in the name of Edge Master. After challenging him to a fight, and resulting in a complete defeat, Edge Master offered to train her further.
After a few months of training, Mina was prepared to set off after Yun Seong once again, eventually finding him in the city of Istanbul, along with his new found companion, Talim. Despite insisting that the Sword of Salvation was in fact evil, Yun Seong refused to listen, leaving the very next day after Soul Edge.
Talim had told Mina of the sword which neutralizes Soul Edge, Soul Calibur. With Soul Calibur on her mind, Mina eventually caught up with Yun Seong, somewhat relieved that he hadn't succeeded in finding Soul Edge.
Mina soon found out that both of the swords were destroyed between a battle of their wielders. There was no true Sword of Salvation...
Seong Mina was disappointed, after spending years dedicating herself in finding this sword for her homeland, however Yun Seong was far more gutted. He insisted that he should prove himself another way, other than to simply find a sword. He should prove himself of his own strength, and thus, Mina and Yun parted ways, Seong Mina returning home without her friend by her side...
Three years later, Seong Mina had blossomed into a beautiful, mature woman. She currently teaches the students at the dojo, a job in which she inherited from her father, as he has grown weak with age.
There were two things which distracted her from teaching... one in which was a rumour which had been spreading around the village, stating that the Soul Swords had risen once again. The other was Yun Seong himself. Was he alright? What had he been doing for the past three years...? Since she had not witnessed the destruction of the swords, Mina was determined to find out for herself, and to find the person in who she considered a brother...
