Greetings swordsmen and shield-maidens!
I was talking to Amy and we were concerned with our posts because our lovely Talim will be absent for awhile, and we didn't know if we should move around her so I came up with an idea until she came back. That we should have a fun little thread of another alternate universe:
SOUL CALIBUR: VALHALLA
Basically, I'm sure you're all familiar with Norse Mythology, Odin and Thor and such. Siegfried also comes from this mythos, Siegfried (or Sigurd in some translations) slayed the dragon Fafnir and bathed in it's blood becoming immortal, except a leaf fell on his back during this and that part of him was mortal, but you get the idea.
Well, Valhalla, was a place where those of worth died in battle, would be taken by Valkyries and become einherijar or "the honored fallen." Where they would fight continually, and eat in it's halls until the day of Ragnarok where they would fight for the gods of Asgard against the Giants and Loki for one final battle. A few gods oversaw this place, mostly the goddess of magic, lust, and death Freya. Also, I believe a few Valkyires were there to tend to them in the feasting halls. But I digress
Anyway, I think it would be an intresting concept to have our heroes become part of the Honored Fallen and fight and interact with these gods. Perhaps make it like Valkyrie Profile, where they would go on certain missions as well like sneaking into an Ice giants fortress, or fight in small skirmishes against the undead.
There are many places for the heroes to go and explore, there are nine realms within the tree of Yggdrasil, the World Tree.
Asgard: The place of the Asgardian gods (or the Aesir)
Valhalla: The halls of the honored fallen
Alfheim: The place of the light elves
Vanheim: The place of the Vanir (the gods that originally fought the Aesir but came to a truce.)
Midgard: The place of mortals, (where our heroes are from)
Jotomheim: The place of the frost giants
Nifilheim: The place of the dead, and where to goddess Hellr resides
obviously I missed some, it's been awhile since I read up on these, but I always loved this stuff as a kid, even now.
I'll have to look through my books and look, or you can maybe correct me if you see where I'm wrong.
Anyway, I thought it was intresting idea and wanted to know if you would be interested! Thank you guys!
