"I have received help and much advices from a very powerful wiseman named Edgemaster. He lives in China and he knows much about the swords. He can even purify malfested. Who is the wind priestess you were talking about? There seems to be many people knowing about the Soul swords... Together maybe they, we, could do much..."
'She is back in Venice, where I have just travelled from.' Rock replied, 'her name is Talim... she was - is - also able to purify malfested, but I do not know to what extent that may be.'
"But for now, about your son, we should try to get some hints and I still think we should go take a look at the Doge's kingdom. The place seems too strange and evil to not be influenced by Soul Edge. So you say you were in Osthreinburg when Soul Edge made you understand he would capture your son? So you didn't see him there... We should really try to see all places implying Soul Edge... Or maybe also ports... If he came from the New world... What do you think mister Rock?"
Rock nodded. 'This kingdom sounds like the most promising option. Perhaps we may gain some allies there.'[avatar]http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m8c207Sbit1rab50go1_250.png[/avatar]

'This kingdom sounds like the most promising option. Perhaps we may gain some allies there.
"Indeed. So we should go over there as soon as possible."
Setsuka got up from her chair and began to walk toward the exit. But she now felt sorry for Rock. Losing a child must be so hard... She hoped they would find Bangoo very soon...
Yet she was also eager to go see that accursed kingdom and that evil doge. He had connections to Soul Edge and by knowing more about him, they may know more about the Cursed sword...

They had finally reached Rome, the city of the seven hills.
Looking at the city as they were still approaching, Viola noticed the St.Peter's basilica that was still under construction but that was already looking very impressive with its dome finished in 1590, making it the tallest building in Rome.
Looking at the religious building, the seer thought with some fear about the Inquisition... There must be many members in this totally religious city... She won't use her orb there either. In small villages it was easier for her and Vanessa to get away from people fearing them but in that city, it would be too risky.
Viola even put back the ugly bonnet she still had, to hide her white hair and be less noticed. Pushing her hair into the hat so that none was apparent, she was still looking at the majestuous city while wondering if she had ever been there. Probably not... It really reminded her nothing...

Vanessa looks at Viola and smiles. "Welcome to Roma. Where the Vatican lives and strives and the courtesans are a Dolore al cazzo. But look at it this way. We can lay low here and I can write my sister to come to Rome." The witch says to them all with a proud tone.

"Then, is here where we part ways?" Adele shifted slightly in worry, not necessarily keen on being alone with Vito now. "I suppose you do have your own journey to continue on. Either way, thank you for traveling with us." She quietly inclines her head, glancing over at Vito. Despite still being fairly laconic and stubbornly refusing to return her gaze, he'd perked up a bit upon entering the city, equally marveling over the wonderous new construction of the basilica, and lost in his own memories of the city from his travels in his youth.

Listening to Vanessa and Adele speaking, Viola could confirm that Italian was not her native language and she probably wasn’t raised in Italy. Sometimes she had to think for a while to translate the words they were saying and there were some words that she didn’t know at all… But she could understand the general meaning of their sentences, so it was fine.
Still looking at the basilica like Vito, Viola answered Adele :
"My mother said she would write to her sister to come here so I think we are not forced to part already. At least we should look in the places were travelers mostly hang."
Without turning to Vito either Viola contined, adressing him:
"your son may be there."
Beside, like Adele, Viola was not too eager to part from them already since she felt Vito and Adele were somehow the ordinary people who would help them pass more like ordinary women in front of the autorities instead of the witches they really were. They would part soon but she hoped not already. She also knew the trouble Adele was in and she didn't know how it would go between her and Vito but she didn't really know what to do for this, it was their relation, their problem, it was between them. Anyway she had the feeling they would get along, beside unless they find the son, they were alone in that big city and only had each other.
Viola sat in the cart, trying to not be noticed too much as they approached the gates of the city and the soldiers, while putting her wrapped orb behind her, among the many things Adele brought.

Vanessa stops and sees a pigeon roosting on the ground. "Messenger pigeons." The witch says silently and gets the pigeon. Then using a spell she commands the bird to hold still so she can write a small letter for her sister, Alice to arrive in Rome. "Well then. That bird sure did listen. But of course how long will it take matters." The witch says to everyone while a smile appears. "Unless Alice is busy trying to uh.. Make children." Vanessa says while a nervous tone appears in her voice. She never did like the idea of being an aunt. Then again she has taken Viola as a child. But her sister having a child?! It scares the ebony haired girl just even thinking about it.

Vito grunted noncommitally. "Somehow, I don't think he's here. And I don't intend to go haring off looking for him, either. Though, I guess a big city -is- a better place to find rumors about someone's location." He shrugged a bit. "And I suppose it's easy enough to find work for an old man like me, instead of sitting in a little village on a dwindling hoard of silver."

"You know your son better than me. You also know the kind of work he does and would probably try to work in again." simply answered Viola to the old man.
She also wondered what work Vito would do himself but she didn’t ask. It was none of her business. Then Vanessa suddenly stopped the cart and climbed down to pick a bird.
Seeing how Vanessa picked the pigeon so easily, Viola wondered if there was some magic in it but she said nothing about it to not scare the others but without magic how would the pigeon know where Alice was living?
Anyway maybe Vito and Adele already had doubts about them… Even if she and Vanessa tried to hide their nature, they did not hide it with too much zeal… The only thing Viola really tried to hide was her orb. And she still wanted to keep it well hidden as some city guard was now coming toward them. So she leaned on it like if she only was resting on some furniture, trying to not shift the fabric wrapping it.
"Benvenuti a Roma, you and your daughters." Said the guard who adressed Vito on a respectuous tone while also politely nodding at Vanessa who must be the oldest of his daughters since she was driving the cart.:
"You stopped not far from the gates, is there a problem? And you seem to be moving with your cart full of things. Do you intend to come live in Roma? May I know the reasons of this moving? Not plague or something like this? If not you are welcome but if so, you must tell us so that Roma doesn’t fall to an epidemic."

"Oh sir. We are just.. Traveling to Roma so we can feel a little safer. As my father is very ill and he wanted to live in Roma to be with the courtesans! No worries about the man." Vanessa says while quickly thinking on her feet. As two hundred years does that to you when you make up excuses for a living. Yet she regretted saying about the courtesans part. As Vito might yell at her. Which might involve her slapping him in the face to shut him up.

Vito did pause to scowl at her back but wisely kept his mouth shut, simply folding his arms irritably and nodding to the guard. "Grazie. My 'daughter' is being rude, I think. I'm not ill, merely old, and think that the comforts of a city suit me better in my old age than an old farmhouse."
Adele looked back and forth between the two, then leaned forward to whisper to Viola. "...They don't look like father and daughter at all... Is this really going to work...?"

The guard gazed at Vanessa with a slightly blushing and surprised look for her openness before Vito spoke.
"Grazie. My 'daughter' is being rude, I think. I'm not ill, merely old, and think that the comforts of a city suit me better in my old age than an old farmhouse."
Then believing that Vanessa only joked, the guard nodded to Vito.
"Indeed the city will be great for you all. Life will be easier for you, signore."
He then turned toward Vanessa :
"Pope Clement VIII is quite active against banditry if bandits are what you feared, signora."
Then adressing both Vanessa and Vito, he continued speaking :
"But he is also very strict on misbehaviours in Roma… He is mostly trying to tame the aristocrats right now. Some aristocrats behaves very badly… Behaved like this for many years, thinking they can do whatever they like because of their noble blood… Now they are beginning to get punished since the Pope came into power but be careful of those misintentionned aristocrats… Even if the Pope punishes them more severely if justice catches them, many are still misbehaving… They find it funny to do mischiefs then try to get away from the Pope’s wrath or to defy him by vainness… We guards are here but try to not get into trouble with them anyway. Young pretty ladies and elderly people are easy prey for them to pick on… I would advice you to go in the northen quarters, calmer than the poor ones and than the aristocratic ones since it is mostly the crafter’s quarters. Of course, it depends of what you intend to do exactly as a living… But many crafters are looking for apprentices or maids…" As he was speaking, the guard was looking at Vanessa with a slightly interrogative gaze.
Meanwhile Viola didn’t seem interested in the conversation and kept her neutral face, looking at the city. She only turned to Adele when the young woman spoke to her.
"...They don't look like father and daughter at all... Is this really going to work...?"
"She may have been adopted… Like I am with my mother." Answered the younger girl who wasn’t really worried about that part but mostly about beeng discovered as a witch or a malfested. Her white hair was hidden under her bonnet but she still had her white brows and red eyes… She was not staring at the guard but Vanessa also had purple eyes… At least Vito or Adele didn’t denounce them as such if they had any suspicions.

"Oh sure we can all work with that. Let me just get everything ready and we can try to get a few florins in our pockets so we can set up and eat." Vanessa said while a nice calm smile was masking her little anger about how the guard was giving that look to Vanessa. She would of just chopped his head off with the her scythe. But they all needed to get through the gates of Roma. Then she turns back to Vito, Viola, and Adele. "You guys okay?" She asks motherly like.

"The north... Thank you. We'll see if we can find a place to stay there, then." Vito nodded at the man, then more firmly at Vanessa. She had a tendency to solve her problems with violence, it seemed, so it was probably best for the little group if they moved on quickly. "Yes, we're fine. Let's move on, our cart will block the street if we stay here too long."

When Vito was answering Vanessa’s question, Viola also nodded in approval. She was as fine as she could probably be even if she didn't feel all joyful. The guard smiled to them and said :
"Well then, good luck on your new life and welcome to Rome once more. There are some inns along the main road if you need it. Or else you can rent some place or maybe some crafter you would work for, can lend you a part of their house to live in."
After a moment of hesitation, he then added, speaking to Vanessa while looking slightly embarrassed:
"You know, there are some painter workshops that are in need of some models. I don’t know if it’s a suitable place for young ladies or not, I’m not an artist and I don’t want to push you in some bad place, but I bet you would make a fine model. Your eyes are… special…"
He blushed even more while adding :
"… and beautiful. Sorry I don’t want to embarras you, signora but… I just… Whatever."
Fearing he spoke too much, the guard began to apologize to both Vanessa and Vito since he didn’t want to insult the father and daughter.
"Mi dispiace… Please carry on in the city. Mi dispiace… Have a nice day signore e signori…"
