With him is his travel companinon and girlfriend, Chai Xianghua, who he met several years ago, when he made his first journey to vanquish Soul Edge. Since that time, he has grown to have feelings for Xianghua but at times, he feel as though he incapable of showing any due to his past guilt, in which he and other monks of the Ling Sheng Su Temple were influenced by the Evil Seed and started to kill each other. Kilik survived the melee and was trained by EdgeMaster, who thought him the art of purifying the evil energy within him. Never the one to back down, Kilik always puts forth an effort to defeat his opponents while on the quest of redemption for his sins.
Background/History
Kilik's plan to destroy Soul Edge on his own as well as leaving Xianghua behind did not go as he had imagined. Soul Edge had already been destroyed and Xianghua was still with him. Xianghua started to grow suspicious of Kilik's sudden change in nature. It bothered her to the point where she asked him about it. "Kilik, I'm starting to grow worried about you. Why did you try to leave without me? Please, tell me what's wrong?" Xianghua's question, as softly as she spoke to Kilik, hit him hard like a ton of bricks. He couldn't tell her exactly of his true motives but remaining stoic for all this time and not acknowledging Xianghua drove not only him mad but Xianghua as well.
Finally, Kilik broke his silence and adressed Xianghua. "Xianghua, I don't know how to say this but...I've been to overwhelmed with my past guilt, it's eating me alive to the point where I just can't take it anymore!" As Xianghua comforted him, Kilik thought about the possibility of wanting to leave Xianghua behind and for her to live a normal life but he couldn't. Xianghua had been too helpful for him as of late, almost to the point she could surpass his skills. "I don't want to leave you behind because of my guilt. I need to overcome this." Kilik, once stoic and unwavering, felt himself becoming overwhelmed for the first time. It wasn't by any opponent or obstacle he faced before, it was something reliving and unburdening as tears trickled from his eyes. "Promise me that you will not let your past defeat you. I won't let that happen to you!" said Xianghua. Kilik agreed as he made that vow to Xianghua.
A year after their vow, Kilik continued training harder than he ever did before. He knew that he had to keep his promise to Xianghua but from time to time, his past and overwhelming fears came back to haunt him. Nevertheless, Kilik had to clear his mind and focus it on not only his rigorous training but also his purifying technique, to which he vastly improved upon after working with his master. It seemed like Kilik was getting better but was regressing in his mind. Seeing this, Edge Master addressed Klik with some comforting yet strong words. "There will be a time when you are forced to face your past. Will you succumb to it or will you rise above it all depends on the choices you make." Kilik wasn't sure what to make of his master's words but he would soon find out for himself.
Another year had passed and after traveling with Xianghua, Kilik returned back to his master's hermitage, knowing that he still had more to learn. With each passing day, he continued to train harder and more rigorously, never forgetting the words of his master. After many years of training and many times proving himself through various tests, the time had finally arrived. Word spread fast of the return of Soul Edge. Kilik knew that if Soul Edge had returned, Soul Calibur would as well. Kilik also knew that this was his second chance to prove himself not only to his master, not only to Xianghua and their vow but also to himself. He would have to explain to Xianghua about how they could destroy the swords and how to neutralize their energies. There was only on way to find out, as he met up with Xianghua, his master's words resonated in his mind, knowing that this was his second chance to rid of past and create his own future.
