In the blackness of the night, the scarlet glow of another shard of Soul Edge emanated in his hand. The body of a dead merchant lay silently behind him—another that fell victim to his sword.
“Another one,” he laughed hysterically, unable to suppress his glee. “Soon I’ll be able to hold the one true sword of power and nothing will be able to stop me! I’ll recreate it if I had to but I shall grasp in my hands the original and only Soul Edge.”
Again, he fused the shard into his sword. A brief burst of light expanded around him, engulfing him momentarily. Afterwards when the light had faded, the eye shifting and gazing about at the top of the hilt of his sword grew in vigor.
“Ah! You’re hungry my pet. I shall find some more to feed you. While you grow in strength, your appetite also increases. I shall need more souls to consume and some help to gather them. I need to raise some minions for you.”
He sniffed. “Ah, their smell... Soon their blood will reek in the night air while your hunger is satiated...”
He stepped towards the door of a random house. “It’s time!”
In a few moments, the ambient night sounds were drowned with screams and its darkness overcame by the glow of flames of burning houses. The harsh laughter of a mad man rang in the background of the chaos. One by one, the dead rose, dead more than ever though their body moved and walked. They obeyed unintelligently the commands of the one who caused their deaths.
