Hilde was solid, tough, and the ideals of a warrior princess. In battle, she was noble and honourable. She disliked fighting in any other means.
She carried her responsibility as the proclaimed leader of her nation at a young age because of the illness of her father, driven mad by the evil seed. She showed no fear or weakness in the presence of the people who depended on her. She was the people’s leader first before the young girl inside her. Hence, she was well mature beyond her age. She could easily forego her needs in order to put her kingdom first.
It was said among her men that if they see her cry, it meant that Wolfkrone was no more.
Background/History:
With applause and cheers, Hildegard von Krone and her men departed the Kingdom of Wolfkrone to defeat and stop the terrible threat the kingdom faced, Nightmare.
With applause and cheers...
With their victorious return through the help of her sworn friend and ally, Siegfried Schtauffen, again with applause and cheers, they were greeted warmly by the people of the kingdom. The celebration was short-lived, however, and lasted for only three days. Even what memories she cherished with her sworn friend, whom she had grown deeply fond of through her journey with him, were immediately buried by the crisis her people faced.
She stood outside her tent, guarded by her guard and confidante, Gerhilde; her palace was no more, included among the rubble inflicted by the armies of the Azure Knight. As the wind whipped a cold lash on her face, blowing her hair behind her, she could taste the bitter feeling that slowly slid down her chest. Her people faced such a hopeless situation with her kingdom ravaged and in ruins, she noted as she surveyed the place surrounding her. People lived in shacks of the remains of their houses. Forests were burnt and stripped of their leaves. The fields teemed with the carpet-like curse people called “the creep” making them unfit for the growth of any plant. People were getting sick with the strange illness similar to her father’s condition which had driven him mad. It was for that reason that he was seen no more, nobody sure of his whereabouts.
Hilde had taken drastic measures of isolating the afflicted with the strange malady and putting them in a separate camp, even severely punishing those who cross its borders but to no avail. The sick kept on increasing in number, overwhelming the numbers of those at the opposite side.
Around her were people with eyes getting deeper in their sockets, skin as dry as parchment and bodies with the curves of their bones becoming more evident each day. They were hungry and there was nothing to feed them. They were in need of supplies but all around were the strips of land that catered no nourishment for any living being, be it plant life or animal life.
Right there and then, she had vowed to restore her kingdom’s former glory. She had pleaded and bargained with kingdoms around Wolfkrone for a place to stay for the people of the nation while she find a way to cure their land. However, with each passing day that her requests were rejected, her dim light of hope grew ever dimmer than ever. In spite of these, she refused to allow that light to be snuffed out.
Three years later, with a kingdom nearby showing kindness to her people by lending a piece of land for them to settle temporarily, she resolved to find a way to restore the glory of Wolkrone. Entrusting her people to a trustworthy general, she left with twelve of her men to find the means to ignite that hope.
As she sat atop her gray mare, back towards the rising sun, her men in two rows behind her, she called out to them and vowed:
“Wolfkrone will have her sun shining above her again. I give that as an oath!”
