After the furious attack, Setsuka painfully got up and gazed at the immortal pirate with some confusion.
“I could have killed you earlier but the shard won’t be able to enjoy it yet. It wants it to possess you and siphon your soul once I made the blade into its fangs!”
When the pirate thrust his sword on the ground, grabbed his shard and the light erupted, Setsuka quickly put her arm before her eyes to not be blinded by it. After sensing some mild shockwave and realizing the brightness diminished, she lowered her arm shielding her eyes. What she saw horrified her. Soul Edge… The cursed sword…
“Now that the joining has been complete, accept your death and afterwards your rebirth. Give in to the fate of your soul, as the others had—food for this shard. And your body shall be its servant!”
Setsuka was now really impressed. But she told herself she would not let fear show in her eyes even if Cervantes probably noticed it already. She silently muttered:
“No matter what, I must survive! Master Kokonoe, please help me! Help me not be taken by this evil blade!”
Suddenly a surge of courage and energy ran in Setsuka’s vein: She remembered all the teachings her sensei told her. First rule: Keep calm. Second: Believe in yourself and third: Strike fast! She remembered the compliments her master addressed her as he was proud of her and never stopped believing in her abilities then she swiftly threw herself at the dread pirate as he was also charging toward her.
“I swear on my blade, I fear nothing!”
But as they were about to clash, the pirate suddenly disappeared. Setsuka wondered for a second where he was until she had the intuition to look up. He was there! Falling on her!
“No mercy!”
She quickly rolled out of the way and the undead pirate fell down where she was just moments ago. Now in a crouching position, she quickly slashed at him as he landed.
“Give up and die!”

[avatar]http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110822183837/soulcalibur/images/5/59/Cervantes_Broken_Destiny.jpg[/avatar] [HP=44/50] Cervantes dropped to the ground and his sword struck the ground as Setsuka rolled to his side. In a single motion, she swung her sword towards him. With his powerful strike evaded, he was open to her sword attack from the side. He spun to face her while trying to back away but was too late; her weapon sliced through his chest. His attempt to evade, however, distanced his body from the blade lessening its lethality.
Blood seeped through the opened wound momentarily. Then, the sword glowed and the cut in his chest closed, leaving an ugly scar.
Spinning to increase the force of his attack, he swung both swords simultaneously at her in three successions then swiped a low horizontal.

Witnessing the dread pirate's chest wound closing until it became only a scar made Setsuka feel some fear and incredulity. How strange and horryfying. She didn't know if she hurt him at all since it almost seemed healed already. And he did get up last time...
Nevertheless, she quickly parried his first attacks using both her katana and her scabbard/umbrella before the last swing sent her scabbard/umbrella flying away with the force of the strike.
A little surprised, Setsuka didn't react quickly enough to evade the low horizontal strike and fell down. She tried to kick Cervantes away as she quickly got up to continue the fight.

“Die!” he growled.

Setsuka backed away while trying to parry one of the swords with her katana and evading the other. But the blade she tried to parry somehow slashed her arm and blood poured out of it.
"Ungh!"
But as she backed away, Setsuka prepared another kick for the pirate who was still moving toward her.

[avatar]http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110822183837/soulcalibur/images/5/59/Cervantes_Broken_Destiny.jpg[/avatar] [HP=38/50] Cervantes again staggered with the kick. Afterwards, he charged at her again with incredible speed tackling her and sending her flying. As she landed, he grabbed her with one hand and pummelled her twice with the bottom tip of the hilt of his sword with the other. He could have shot her twice or thrice as he was holding her but he cursed at not having a pistol infused with his sword. Later, he would. He vowed that.
He smelled the blood flowing on her arms. “Ah,” he said as he sniffed, “The infestation of my sword has touched your blood. Soon you’ll be one of us.”
And he whirled around, throwing her away. As she floated in the air with his throw, he sent her a spinning strike: like the whirlwind with his blades at the corners of the cyclone.

“Ah, The infestation of my sword has touched your blood. Soon you’ll be one of us.”
Hearing this horrible prediction made Setsuka shiver in fear. She angrily replied:
“No! Damn you!”
And then Cervantes whirled around, throwing her away. As she floated in the air with his throw, he sent her a spinning strike: like the whirlwind with his blades at the corners of the cyclone.
Setsuka fell down and painfully got up. She looked badly beaten now. Holding her wounded arm, Setsuka stared at Cervantes with a horrified gaze as she backed away from him. She was still appalled at what he told her. “No… I won’t… It can’t be…"
But after a moment, her gaze changed and she seemed more determined.
“I may become malfested but I won’t lose to you!”
And she furiously launched at him with her katana.
“Wither and die!”

He foresaw the strike, being launched out of impulse, and parrying her katana with one sword, he was about to strike her neck with the other...
—and he stopped.
The blade stayed at her neck as his attention was deviated to another.
The sword he infused with Soul Edge was vibrating and glowing in pulses. He could sense it, too: the presence of another shard nearby. He immediately forgot the woman whose neck was at the mercy of his sword.
He backed away, looking about him. He faced the west and rushed into one of the alleys, disappearing completely into the shadows.

—and he stopped.
The blade stayed at her neck as his attention was deviated to another.
Setsuka, who was certain she would now die, stayed stunned as the blade stopped near her neck. Cervantes backed away and Setsuka did nothing to stop him. She was still under the shock of almost being killed and of maybe become a malfested.
As he quickly left her, she fell on her knees and after some time being still in shock, she began to cry.
"It can't be…"
But after a while, she got a hold of herself and wondered why the man left her alive and where did he go. He just wanted to infect her? The monster! She thought that she should pursue him. Yet he left so fast and she took some times to get up, so he may be really far now. And humiliating as it might be, she seemed not good enough to vanquish him… She also had her own problems to take care of now…
Setsuka gazed at her wounded arm. It really hurt… But it didn’t mean it was malfested… Yet she was wounded by the cursed sword even if it was only a part of it, it was probably powerful enough to malfest her and she knew that evil pirate may be telling the truth… She better not take any chances…
She knew malfestation was not always quick so she may have some time to get healed… But as she wondered when she took the shard previously, she had to find an expert… Where?
“Mitsurugi knew about Soul Edge… Maybe he knew about malfestation and a cure… But he must be now in Korea… and to go ask him for help… I cannot. Michael seemed malfested though he didn’t say it was that but if it was, he wasn’t healed either, so he may also know nothing about a cure… The ones who destroyed the swords last time were in the West… Maybe I should continue West…”
She winced as her arm was now really painful. Maybe for now she should try to disinfect it like any normal wound, maybe it will heal… She also had some other wounds made by the sword… Like the one on her belly… She would have to take care of them all…
Setsuka went in search of a healer or apothecary. And she thought that now she knew someone worst than Mitsurugi…

Setsuka cleaned and disinfected her wounds with the medicine she bought, yet she doubted it would be efficient against the magic of Soul Edge if she really was infected but at least she will not get infected in other ways.
While taking care of her wounds, she was still wondering if she should have run after that man. She regretted to have let go such a monster yet she still wondered if he was too strong for her. But Mitsurugi is also very strong and it didn’t stop her to try to confront him, so this man shouldn’t scare her either. She really should have run after him…
But the fact she may have been malfested did play on her moral and her determination to run after the man… She first had to get healed if she was really malfested then she would find that man and kill him! Maybe she should find him while she was still malfested… She didn’t want to be healed and get malfested again… Yet she could not wait to cure her malfestation if she was to transform into an evil bloodthirsty monster, an undead like this man. She shall try to find both that man and someone who could cure her whoever comes first.
She was still very down but she then remembered her master telling her that one of her strength was that she never gives up and he was proud of that. She remembered his smile… She would continue to make him proud. So she got up and went searching for answers.
After some subtle questioning she learned of a monk temple that had kept some sacred relics since many years and where the monks may have known how to purify malfested, the Ling-Sheng Su temple. But people said the temple was abandoned since many years because the monks suddenly became all crazy and started killing each other or got killed by someone else, the rumours were vague yet it was now renowned as a place of evil. Setsuka decided to go take a look. Maybe she could find something or someone to help her anyway…
(gone at the Ling-Sheng Su temple)
